The dark silhouettes of trees stand in stark contrast to the awakening sky. Dawn is on its way.
Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don’t give up.
~ Anne Lamott
‘Good morning,’ the sun whispers to the earth. ‘It’s time to wake up.’
‘There’s a long, full day ahead, so I thought I’d make the transition smoother with a soft blush of pink.’
The beauty of light is reflected all around us… if we’re willing to open our eyes to see it.
Each time dawn appears, the mystery is there in its entirety.
~ Rene Daumal
For the mind disturbed, the still beauty of dawn is nature’s finest balm.

Fabulous photos. Will share them on soulsnet.com. Such peace, such tranquillity.

Thanks Corinne. It is indeed tranquil at that time of the morning.
Good to walk the Salt Marsh Trail with you Amy-Lynn.
Gerry, I just got back from another sunrise walk there. It was pretty nice. Good breeze. No mosquitoes 🙂
Magic! I love that the sun whispers to the earth and the earth gets all rosy, like she’s blushing.
Kathy, what do you think the sun was whispering? Something hot I’ll bet 😉
What a lovely series of images and thoughts! Just what I needed. Thank you.
Thanks and you’re welcome Eva. Glad to help 🙂
Powerful…both the pictures and the words! I love the quote by Anne Lamott. “You wait and you watch and work: you don’t give up.” Awesome wisdom…
Greenlightlady, I agree there’s a lot of wisdom in that quotation. I think the waiting and silent watching are often harder than the work and where we’re most likely to stumble.
Boy you DO get up early. The water looks so still. Makes me want to get up and go kayaking at sunrise.
That first shot of the silhouettes of the trees is lovely.
Sybil, yes I do – especially at this time of year. But just because I’m out there walking doesn’t mean I’m totally in gear yet. I’m sure kayaking at sunrise would be awesome.
Do you suppose, from Heaven’s view, lakes are reflected in the sky?
Alice, they most likely are. The water reflects the light but so do the clouds on the other side of the sky. At that time of day it seems like there are reflections of reflections everywhere. It’s so otherworldly.
How I adore these photographs. I wish I was walking through the depths of those shadows, smelling the earth and the green air, feeling the cool of the trees and the promise in the sky.
Glad you enjoy them Aubrey. ‘The promise in the sky’ has the greatest effect. It trumps everything else when it looks like that, but it’s those other effects on the senses that sear it all to memory.
Dawn; so mysterious to so many who sleep through it.
Scott, that’s hilarious. You’re still asleep while I’m panning for heron pix in the marsh.
Dawn is my favourite time of day. I can feel through your images, how magical it must be to watch it over the water like this. So very beautiful – pictures that make you breathe deeply.
Me too Cindy. Water and dawn certainly make magic together.
